Coffee and fruit prevention cataract

According to reports, scholars at the Institute of Environmental Medicine at the Karolinska Institute in Sweden found that eating more antioxidant-containing foods, such as fresh fruits and vegetables, coffee, can reduce the risk of cataracts.

The research team selected more than 30,000 Swedish middle-aged and older women over the age of 49, and conducted a seven-year follow-up survey on their eating habits through questionnaires. The total antioxidant value of their food intake was measured and found to be 13% lower in women with the highest total antioxidant intake compared with women with the lowest antioxidant intake. The researchers speculate that this result also applies to men.
