According to the Indian Express, scientists at the Indian Institute of Biochemistry found that drinking black tea not only enhances immunity, but also prevents and alleviates stomach ulcers caused by drinking.
Excessive drinking can irritate the gastric mucosa, trigger inflammation, and increase the risk of stomach ulcers. However, the researchers found that aqueous compounds in black tea regulate proteins that play an important role in the formation and healing of gastric ulcers. In addition, black tea extract can restore the integrity of cells damaged by ethanol, thus reducing the negative effects of gastric ulcers. Another highlight of the study is that the addition of citric acid to the black tea extract provides a stronger protection against the ulcer.
